In the afternoon we were in class doing the module : Maintain and adopt oral communication, today we did activity 1 with Madam Heidi ,it was about strategies of speaking and listening. 16 July 2009 Lethabo power station experience.

We were in the Lethabo power station visitors centre, right in front of me is a display of electricity generation plant,in the centre we were taught about how electricity is generated, what they use to generate electricity.I learned that one turbine can generate 618 megawatts,it is alot of electricity.I also learned that it takes a lot of effort and commitment Eskom has put into the generation of electricity.Mr. Daan le Roux also explained to us the cause of load shading. As it is caused by the high demand and eskom has to maintain the 50Hz it should not exist or drop,so it is maintained by reducing the load.It is a bad thing but eskom needs electricity to generate more electricity,so we must save electricity to make life easy.
